need of classified vocabulary

Post by abhijit » Fri Apr 23, 2010 2:33 pm

ciao, i desperately feel the need of classified vocabulary as per topic at one place on following topics.
time, weather, color, food, animal, bodyparts family, clothes. number
I find some vocabulary here and there..it is not at one place. and list should be exhaustive. i.e. complete as far as possible.

grazie.. but i want moderators of this forum start ''classified vocabulary'' and users will post words under specific heading.
e,g. FAMILY - under this head, all words/vocabulary related to family will be posted.
FAMILY
father - il padre
mother - la madre...
and so on.

Hi there :)

To be honest, I really can't see why doing a "classified vocabulary" would be any better than using a dictionary?

There are many good dictionaries around that should be helpful for you, Gianluca has suggested one and there are others such as Garzanti, it is also worth mentioning that there are only 2 (voluntary) moderators on the forum here and I doubt whether they would have the time for such an undertaking!

Only my opinion :)

if it is posted here, that will be great help for beginners. in dictionary, we get different meanings or different synonyms for same word. we don't know which word is most common. which word is mostly used. e.g. as
[adverb]
come
quanto
così
tanto
altrettanto
giacché
nel modo in cui
tanto ... quanto
così ... come
siccome poiché
[conjunction]
quale
che
poiché
mentre
secondo
quando
perché
in qualità di
dal momento che
sebbene
now as beginner. i can't memorize all meaning of ''as'' . also we don't know which word is used when and where.
also, beginners don't know specific italian animals, food.
I hope native understand this problem. I only mean that vocabulary should not be limited to travel purpose only. :(
