Dizionari Garzani 1998
casino s.m. 1. (chalet di caccia) shooting lodge 2.(postribolo) brothel 3. (fam.) (chiasso) racket, row, din, (volg.) balls-up: non fare _____ don't make such a row. 4. (fam.) (pastaccio) shambles
casinò s.m. (casa di gioco) casino

fracasso s.m. din, racket; (di cose rotto) crash: (far ______) to make a noise
Dunno Peter, perhaps there's a misprint, but certainly that's how I heard them used during my time in the country.
Perhaps a NIS might help here.

Sorry about that, I got this from an online dictionary that you may know

Perhaps somebody else has heard of this usage..or maybe not..either way it would be useful to find out.

Which dictionary do you use Peter? Any recommendations?

Oh scusate,

mobile > call

chiamare

PS. Avrei dovuto controllare il mio dizionario prima di scrivere, hai ragione Peter.

call > telephone

telefonare (vt)
telefono, telefonino, cellulare

BTW: Angela, I use Collins Italian Dictionary, 2005 issue. You know about Garzanti. There is also another online dictionary that a Scot on About Italian swears by and that is Oxford Paravia. Like Garzanti you have to register.

I like the way Collins sets out thed dictionary, since in addition to the E/I and I/E sections there is a 70 page section on grammar, which, to be honest, I had not really looked at. Lookos interesting, so when I've got a few minutes to spare....
