The Months of the Year

January…gennaio
February…febbriao
March…marzo
April…aprile
May…maggio
June…giugno
July…luglio
August…agosto
September…settembre
October…ottobre
November…novembre

The Seasons

Spring…la primavera
Summer…l'estate (feminine)
Fall/Autumn…l'autunno
Winter…l'inverno

a. The months of the year are NOT capitalized. Days of the week are NOT capitalized unless they begin a sentence.

The prepositions "a", "in", and "d' " are commonly used with
the names of the months and with the names of seasons to
express "IN."
Ex. A marzo vado negli Stati Uniti
In March I'm going to the United States.

Ex. in primavera…in spring
in autunno…in fall
d'estate…in summer
d'inverno…in winter

In Italian, only first day of the month is expressed with an
ordinal number (the first); the other numbers are expressed
with cardinal numbers ( two, three, etc.).
The definite article "il" is always used before the number to
express dates.
The preposition "di" between the day and month is optional.
Ex. E' il primo(di) aprile.
It's the first of April. (It's April 1)

E' il tre (due, cinque, etc.) (di) maggio.
It's the third (second, fifth, etc.) of May
