Translation of song in Neapolitan language

Postby jsanders14 » Tue Feb 14, 2017 3:32 pm

Hi. I am looking for help please with transcribing and/or translating the following song in the Neapolitan language.

Cunailante bella (Beautiful Coney Island) is a song recorded in 1928 by Italian immigrants in the U.S.

The song can be heard at this link: https://vimeo.com/203052483

Thank you.

I've had a listen and to my non-native ear it's almost impenetrable. If I even had the written lyrics in Napolitano I could have a decent stab at translating them but you're going to need someone very familiar with that dialect.

Good luck.

Hi. Since posting, I have since obtained a Neapolitan transcription of the lyrics (from the ethnomusicologist who published this song) and an Italian translation of the Neapolitan (see link below).

Would it please be possible for someone to translate the Italian or Neapolitan version into English ?

I posted the Neapolitan and Italian versions of the song: http://lyricstranslate.com/en/cunailant ... sland.html

The song, recorded in 1928 by Italian immigrants to the U.S., describes the wonders of Coney Island, the amusement area in New York City, which was very popular at the time.

And the original song can be heard here in Neapolitan: https://vimeo.com/203052483

Thank you.
