I live in the country, or I live in the countryside?

Ciao ciccio, bentornato - non ti vedo da un po' di tempo.

To answer your question, you can say it either way, although I have to say I hear country more often than countryside. As you would say I live in the town so you can say I live in the country.

In Australian English you would definitely say country. You would use countryside to say, for example "The countryside is pretty around here.".
