Hmm...this is interesting. Have you seen Il Giovane Montalbano/Il Commissario Montalbano ? How do they compare ?

Il commissario Montalbano is superb. I'd describe Il giovane Montalbano as very good but doesn't quite have as good a feel as the original.rus wrote:Hmm...this is interesting. Have you seen Il Giovane Montalbano/Il Commissario Montalbano ? How do they compare ?

I think in general I would agree with what Calum has said. However, Il Giovane Montalbano is still very good and you get to meet the young Augello, Fazio, Catarella and Dr. Pasquano. Michele Riondini is very good as the young Salvo, and actually fits how Camilleri describes the character in the books. Clearly it has been difficult for the actors playing Catarella and Pasquano to overcome the images of the older characters as portrayed by Angelo Russo and Marcello Parrecchio. One also sees the start of the somewhat tortured love affair with Livia and in one of the episodes the strained relationship between Salvo and his father is explained.
A presto

I've started chronologically with Il giovane Montalbano and then will continue with Il Commissario Montalbano. So far, I'm enjoying it.calum wrote:Il commissario Montalbano is superb. I was wondering how is 'Il commissario De Luca' compared to Montalbano series ?
