Words easily mixed

Post by dmj120 » Fri Jan 25, 2008 4:05 pm

Ciao a tutti. In one of books I bought, there is a small section (the following) that I thought might be useful for more people. Let's face it; some of us are not strong speelers or typres. SO here is a list of words that one slip up could change the word completely.

capello............hair <------------------> cappello...........hat
cassetto...........drawer <--------------> cassetta..........cassett, box
cane..............dog <--------------------> carne ................meat
coperto ..... cover(palce at table) <-----> coperta......... cover
camino...........chimney <--------------> cammino .............. path; journey
corso............... course <--------------> corsa ...............race
collo .............. neck <-----------------> colle ............. hill
carico ..............load <-----------------> carica .......... office
dato...............date <-------------------> data ...........datum, fact
foglio......... sheet (of paper) <----------> foglia ...... leaf
fisico .......... physicist <----------------> fisica ........ physics
frutto ......... fruit (piece of) <----------> frutta .........fruit
menta ........ mint <--------------------> mente.......... mind
modo ......... way,manner <-----------> moda ......... fashion
morto ........ dead person <-----------> morte ........ death
meta ....... goal <------------------> metà .......... half
notare ........ note <----------------------> nuotare ........swim
pasto...........meal <-----------------------> pasta............ pasta, noodles
partita......... match, game <-------------> partito.......party
roccolto........harvest <--------------------> roccolta..... collection
razzo......... rocket <----------------------> razza.........race
sonno........ sleep <-----------------------> sogno........ dream
saluto........ greeting <--------------------> salute....... health
testo......... text <--------------------------> teste ...... witness
votare ........ vote <-----------------------> vuotare ...... empty
vite........... (grape)vine <-----------------> vita .......life

I am sure that are probably others, but this is what I have so far.

A presto,
Josh

Pesca can mean peach if the E is open and fishing if the E is closed.

What a good list to have...

I have this book, but I don't remember the list.

I always mix up hat and hair :oops:

Somtimes I mix up 'penne' and another word that I won't type :)

:D
