letter count

Interesting question.
I couldn't find it by googling a bit, so I did my own experiment. :D

I went to 5 italian websites and copied large blocks of text into Word.
I did a word/letter count and found that the "letters per word" varied
from 5.2 to 6.2 and the "overall" for all of the texts was:

drumroll please......

5.54 letters per word...

You can say it...yes...I'm a nerd...

Lol. ti puo' quella corona di nerdissimo se lei sente e' giustificato. My latest endeavor,i found 27% of 1000 sample words in italian bible contained some double letters, this only for 4 lettered words or more.Haven't thought of next project yet.

I'm guessing the romance languages would have more letters per word. Glad to know!

Yes. but i am going to guess italian uses many more letters than spanish or portugues because of more prevalence of double letters.
