Italian slang translation?

Post by JoeR » Sun Jun 21, 2009 4:00 pm

Ciao all...
To be funny, my Father used to repeat these sayings in broken Italian. I'm not sure there is any real translation, but I thought I would ask if maybe anyone has an idea what are the meanings? I don't know the spelling so I'll try to just sound them out phonetically.

He used to say "In the barendas" He jokingly implied it was something like "in the end" A pun of some kind. Probably in broken slang. Any idea what the actual Italian word is he was using?

Also, he joked about the two Italian brothers who invented the needle -- ettereimba and etteromba. (sp?) I know it sounds strange, but it was just a lyrical phrase he used to joke around with.

Anyway, any thoughts?
Grazie,
-Joe R.

Ciao, sono veramente spiacente, ma non riesco ad aiutarti. Potrei sapere la regione d'origine di tuo padre? Mi sembra settentrionale.
a presto

mentre questi mi suonano familiari in qualche modo, dovrò indagare; aiuterebbe sapere la regione d'origine di tuo padre, come ha già detto Isablu :)

Grazie isabella and polideuce
My Fathers family was from San Donato, but I'm unsure is its Southern Italy or northern.
